Blue Isle Studios is running a Citadel open beta test for one day on July 22, so sign up to test out this new magic-heavy sandbox MMORPG!
[Update, July 21: According to an email I got from Blue Isle Studios, it sounds like you don’t need a key for the Citadel open beta. Rather, you should be able to simply download the game on Steam once the open beta goes live. You can still sign up below if you like, just in case.]
So here is some interesting testing news spotted by the fine folks over at MMOGames.com. Apparently, the Citadel: Forged With Fire closed beta has been running recently (apologies for not seeing that), and there will be a final beta event this coming Saturday, July 22. The best part is that this will be a public event, and you can sign up right now for the Citadel open beta if you want to participate!
Admittedly, I am still catching up on Citadel: Forged With Fire from Blue Isle Studios out of Toronto (fellow Canucks, woot!). Because of that, I will make this easy and crib some of the official information from the Citadel Steam page:
“Citadel: Forged With Fire is a massive online sandbox RPG with elements of magic, spellcasting and inter-kingdom conflict. As a newly minted apprentice of the magic arts, you will set off to investigate the dangerous world of Ignus. Your goal: create a name for yourself and achieve notoriety and power among the land’s ruling Houses.
You have complete freedom to pursue your own destiny; hatch plots of trickery and deceit to ascend the ranks among allies and enemies, become an infamous hunter of other players, build massive and unique castles, tame mighty beasts to do your bidding, and visit uncharted territories to unravel their rich and intriguing history. The path to ultimate power and influence is yours to choose.”
The rest of the information makes Citadel sound ambitious and worth checking out. It also sounds like the game has a firm focus on magic and spells, and so any character you make will be a spell caster of some kind (I think…don’t quote me). The game trailer below does show the characters carrying hammers and axes so presumably you won’t be that limited in how you play. In any case, the Citadel open beta this coming Saturday will let you explore the game for yourself. If you like what you see and want to continue, your progress during the Citadel open beta will carry over into the early access launch on July 26. So get over there and sign up for the Citadel open beta. Enjoy!
