Sign up for the Abatron alpha for a chance to test out this new RTS and FPS hybrid game from W3 Studios!
So late in 2015 I stumbled across Abatron, a new sci-fir RTS/FPS hybrid game being developed by W3 Studios. At that time there wasn’t a huge amount to report on and W3 asked me to hold off for a bit. Fast forward to last week when I happened to notice Abatron again via Twitter. Lo and behold, it turns out that W3 is running an Abatron alpha registration for those that are interested in a chance to test out the game.
Saying that Abatron is an RTS/FPS hybrid very likely makes some of you nervous. FPS players aren’t going to like being forced to play an RTS, and vice versa. Thankfully, W3 kept that in mind and they are designing Abatron in order to cater to both types of players. You can read a few more details about this over on the game’s website and the Abatron FAQ.
Abatron will eventually allow eight players to play together in 1v1 up to 4v4 matches, or free for all. I imagine this might work the best if you have some FPS and RTS players on the same team, but don’t quote me on that. In any case, Abatron sounds like it should be a lot of fun. I should mention, however, that the current state of the game is only using six players in free for all mode and the the gameplay will require you to play the RTS side of things at least some of the time (i.e. you won’t be able to stick to just FPS gameplay yet).
If you want to get your name in for a chance to test out the game during the Abatron alpha then head over to the game’s website and sign up for the newsletter. You may also want to consider pre-ordering the game. Check it out!
