Check out the pre-alpha Defenders of Naxia demo that is currently available as part of the game’s Kickstarter campaign!
We don’t really cover crowdfunding campaigns much these days, although I do continue to peruse Kickstarter on occasion to look for campaigns that also include a game demo to try out. Case in point is the Defenders of Naxia Kickstarter that is currently underway. This campaign includes the Defenders of Naxia demo from the pre-alpha version of the game for those that would like to give it look.
I tried the demo myself last night, and Defenders of Naxia from Novel Geometry is probably most easily described as a Diablo-esque ARPG game with WASD movement. Those of you who have tried Victor Vran (which I really enjoy playing) will know exactly what Defenders of Naxia plays like. Defenders of Naxia has a few extra things going for it over Victor Vran though, such as actual skills trees and the ability to swap between two heroes at any time.
This tag-team mechanic is one of the central mechanics that Defenders of Naxia is clamouring about. It seemed interesting in practice during the demo, allowing one hero to recover while the other has at it. The final game will also feature rogue-lite elements such as permadeath and procedurally generated game worlds. Fun times!
If you are curious to see what the game is all about then I recommend giving the Kickstarter a look or watching the pra-alpha demo video below. Or better yet, download the Defenders of Naxia demo and try it for yourself. Oh, and if you get a chance you may want to help vote in the game on Steam Greenlight. Enjoy!
