I have been keeping my eye on The Wild Eight Kickstarter campaign lately because it sounds like a very interesting survival game premise (which is impressive considering the glut of survival games that have appeared over the past few years). This week it got even more interesting with the release of a pre-alpha demo of the game. Sadly, the demo is only a single-experience but it should be enough to give you an idea of what the game is shooting for.
Yeah I know, survival games are a dime a dozen these days, but The Wild Eight from 8 Points stills looks quite intriguing to me. The game starts with a plane crash in the middle of the Alaskan nowhere and the eight survivors that manage to crawl from the wreckage. In this context, “survivors” is a fluid concept since the whether they survive or not depends entirely upon you and the choices you make as you try to navigate the procedural generated game world. The game can be played with a single player experience, but it is pretty clear to me is that the game is really being designed with co-op gameplay in mind. You and up to seven other players can jump in to a game to help, or possibly hinder, everyone’s survival. Sounds like it could be a gritty survival game to me.
The Wild Eight Kickstarter is well underway now with 15 days left as of me writing this. I recommend reading over the Kickstarter information and trying out the pre-alpha demo (direct link here) to see what you think. If you do decide to support the game, keep in mind that beta testing access is included starting at the $35 tier and alpha access at the $40 tier. Enjoy!
