You may or may not have heard about this, but there is a new videogame crowd funding service on the block named Fig, which is aiming to bring together both pledge supporters and more serious investors. I had heard about it a couple of weeks ago but hadn’t really looked into it too much. However, yesterday afternoon DBB received an email letting us know that the first project listed on Fig now has an alpha demo for everyone to try. The game is called Outer Wilds, and if you like space flight and exploration games then the Outer Wilds alpha demo is worth a look.
I have to admit that I don’t know much about Outer Wilds from Mobius Digital Games so I can only pass along what I am seeing on the Outer Wilds Fig site. The game looks to deliver seamless exploration of an entire solar system, including planets, cities, space stations, asteroids, and so on. And none of these objects and locations are static, and you can expect things to change whether you are exploring them or ignoring them. For more information I will have to point you to the Outer Wilds Fig page. I will say this though, from what I can see Outer Wilds is going to be a game that lets players take a really deep dive into its game world.
Actually, since the Outer Wilds alpha demo is available (PC, Mac, and Linux) you can do more than just read about the game. Bear in mind that the alpha demo is not representative of the final quality of the game (there is a handy comparison on the game’s Fig page to convince you of this). So check out Outer Wilds and try the alpha demo to see if this is something you could get on board with. Enjoy!
