I have been casually following Warhammer 40K: Eternal Crusade for some time now, and I believe that we even reported on the game late last year. In any case, I am on the mailing list for the game and that resulted in me getting the latest State of the Crusade update a few days ago. The main take away from that newsletter is that the Eternal Crusade early access alpha test is starting soon and those that purchase a Founder’s Pack can get involved!
For the uninitiated among you, Eternal Crusade is a new MMOTPS (third person shooter) which is aiming to plunk players down in the middle of a fairly hectic Warhammer 40K game world over which five factions are fighting. Four of those factions (Space Marines, Chaos Space Marines, Eldar, and Orks) are playable while the fifth (Tyranids) is solely NPC driven. Combat in the game is being built to be entirely aim/swing to hit (skill shot) rather than locked target, which I personally think sounds great. I highly recommend reading over the Eternal Crusade FAQ because it contains a lot of great information about the game. Oh, and the newsletter also announced that the game is making the transition to the Unreal Engine 4, so you know that it is going to look amazing.
The firm date for the early access alpha launch hasn’t yet been revealed, but it sounds like it is fast approaching. Anyone who purchases a Founder’s Pack will gain access although please note that the higher tiered packs gain access sooner. If you have been hankering for a very action based MMO shooter, or just love the Warhammer 40K universe, then Eternal Crusade is worth a look. Check it out!
