The Deadwood Kickstarter reboot has been going rather swimmingly, and currently Steamroller Studios has raised 91% of the goal in just the first three days. And while I can’t say for sure if it is true, I would like to think that DBB has been helping out with that success even just a little bit. Anyway, in order to entice some of you on-the-fencers to commit to the game, Steamroller has now launched a Deadwood demo for you to try. The demo is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux, although Steamroller did mention that the Mac and Linux versions are a bit rocky.
As luck would have it, I didn’t manage to get the demo downloaded completely before I left for work this morning so I can’t yet tell you how it is, but rest assured that I am excited to try it out later on today. I have already backed the game so being able to try the game is just gravy for me. Hopefully the rest of you can give it a go before then.
Those of us here at DBB (the big three of us right now) have supported a number of games on Kickstarter, but I have to say that I love to see how much these smaller game studios really pour their heart and soul not only into the game, but into the Kickstarter campaigns as well, and just have fun with it. Steamroller are really engaging with the community and enjoying the ride (in case you didn’t see the Steamroller dance party, it is well worth a look…you were probably all wondering about the image above). Anyway, check out the Deadwood demo and then consider supporting the Kickstarter if you like what you see. As I pointed out last time, testing access is included with almost every tier. Enjoy!
