Yesterday DBB received an email from Juan Vazquez from Fourattic to tell us about their new game, Crossing Souls. Moreover, he wanted to let all of you know that the Crossing Souls Kickstarter is currently underway, and if you are a fan of those venerable orthogonal 2D adventure and RPG games from the 1980s then Crossing Souls is one to check out.
Crossing Souls makes no bones about exactly who and what it is taking inspiration from, and paying homage to. The Legend of Zelda, that classic adventure game of old, is happily mentioned multiple times on the Crossing Souls Kickstarter page. Juan’s email to also included tips-of-the-hat to some great classic adventure movies like Stand by Me and The Goonies (do any of you even remember those movies?). Fourattic clearly knows what they are shooting for!
Now, saying that Crossing Souls takes inspiration from The Legend of Zelda probably does conjure up a certain type of gameplay and a certain type of artistic style in your mind. And you are probably correct, although Crossing Souls is definitely trying to walk its own path as well. In Crossing Souls you will have access to not one but five different characters, each with their own benefits and play style. Each of these five kids need to used at the right time to overcome obstacles and solve puzzles as you progress through what sounds like a rather cool sounding adventure story. Check out the Crossing Souls Kickstarter for more information.
As always, testing access is our focus, and the Crossing Souls Kickstarter does indeed provide such access. The early preview access starts at the $30 tier, so keep that in mind if you decide to support the game. So check out the Crossing Souls Kickstarter and consider pledging for this old school adventure game. Give it a look!
