There has been flurry of testing related news lately (actually that always seems true) and I guess somehow Skyforge slipped through the cracks around here when this was first announced a few weeks ago. Luckily I have noticed it now, and better yet the Skyforge beta registration is open for business.
There isn’t a huge amount of information available about Skyforge beyond what is available on the Skyforge Forums and FAQ. The big message that is clear from the info, besides that the game will have some seriously impressive visuals and art styling, is that Skyforge is going to be a very action oriented MMO with fluid controls designed to allow players to perform impressive combos and maneuvers during combat. There is also talk about having one giant server that houses players from all around the world. Skyforge will also boast a “unique non-level-based development system” as put by the FAQ, as well as both PvE and PvP content.
Oh, and I should mention that two classes for the game have already been revealed, so you can read about the Cryomancer and Paladin at your leisure. The setting of the game seems to be an interesting mix of magic, mythology, and sci-fi from what I can tell.
Skyforge is being developed as a new joint venture between The Allods Team and Obsidian Entertainment, and by Jove I hope they pull off what they are aiming for. If you want to get your name in for testing you can sign up for the beta test right from the Skyforge website. Have at it!
